Here we have a peculiar curiosity. Most fruit and vegetables have a clear gender. Cucumbers, tomatoes and grapes are typical males whereas broccoli, mushrooms and strawberries are typical females. The pepper, or “fruity apple”, however, is often sexually confused. This specimen is what botanists call a “tranny pepper”.

Here we have a common red onion, halved and wrapped in cellophane. Due to the ideal conditions the dissected bulb has sprouted and dragged its plastic surroundings with it, creating a small, see-through tent or “glass onion”. This particular specimen will be kept under close observation over the next few days.

Here are two potatoes with new potato fetuses. Their growth has been severely stunted by exposure to light. An unpleasant but wholly necessary and thorough mass abortion must be carried out if any of these potatoes are to be consumed.

And lastly, here’s a really big cherry tomato. It’s really big.

How wonderfully uninteresting!
Loves it!!
